Is Dental Assisting a smart career choice?

According to the American Dental Assistants Association dental assistants are making on average $20.48 per hour and $42,600 per year in Indiana.

The Bureau of Labor Statistics states that “Employment of dental assistants is projected to grow 11 percent from 2020 to 2030, faster than the average for all occupations.

If you have the desire to change, alter, or recreate your career path, dental assisting is an interesting and rewarding profession. Dental assistants typically work on average 4 days per week and generally have evenings, weekends, and holidays off. It’s a great profession for anyone with a family. If you have empathy and compassion for people, are attentive to detail, and have excellent organizational skills dental assisting may be a great career choice for you.

What are the job responsibilities of a Dental Assistant?

Dental assistants perform a number of different tasks in a dental office. They work closely with the dentist and patients. Dental assistants take x-rays, set up exam rooms, sterilize instruments and assist the doctor when performing procedures such as composite and amalgam restorations, crowns, implants, extractions, and more.

Dental assisting may also include front office administrative tasks such as answering phones, scheduling patient appointments and updating patient records. This often depends on the size and flow of the office. Each dental office is unique – which is great because you can find the best fit for your personality and lifestyle.

How does Dental Office Training by Lynn set you up for success in the dental field?

3 days per week –  12 weeks – 252 hours

Effective training. Real results.

Just like dentistry, our program fits into your schedule and does not interfere with family time. Classes run Monday through Wednesday, 9 AM – 3 PM, this is so you can still have a work-life balance while trying to accomplish your goals and dreams. We also provide our students with multiple opportunities to obtain jobs before they complete the program.

DOT hosts a Dental Career Fair for each 12-Week dental assisting session. We refer to this as “dental speed dating”. Offices from all around the state of Indiana come in and set up a table while students go to each station and interview for possible employment. We have had tremendous success with our dental career fair and over half of our students have jobs before they finish the program.

Our aspiration is for our students to have the opportunity to learn what their likes and dislikes are in dentistry before entering the field and provide opportunities with a more hands-on approach through general dental office settings. We are and always will do our part in delivering highly trained dental professionals into the dental community. The dental community expects a higher standard from DOT!

Dare to dream. Rise above the ordinary. Make a change.

Dental Office Training by Lynn trains our students to rise above and beyond the call of duty and stand out in the dental field. We LOVE dentistry and we LOVE our students. It’s never too late to change your career path and follow your dreams. Dental assisting is a promising and rewarding profession.
