Lynn Uptgraft
Founder, Licensed Dental Hygienist (L.D.H)
My name is Lynn Uptgraft and I’m a licensed dental hygienist with over 35 years’ experience in dental hygiene, dental assisting, office management, and teaching. I graduated from dental assisting school in 1985, upon which I began working as a dental assistant and front office hygiene coordinator. I then graduated from Indiana University School of Dentistry in 1990 with a dental hygiene degree. I opened Dental Office Training by Lynn in 2007 and must admit the last 12 years have been most fulfilling, rewarding, and life changing time in my career. Helping students achieve their goals and watching as they join the dental community to establish professional careers is a privilege. The opening of Dental Office Training 2 South is going to be spectacular!
Denise McDonald
Expanded Function Dental Assistant (E.F.D.A), Clinical Director
My name is Denise McDonald and I teach the Expanded Dental Assistant curriculum for Dental Office Training. I have 40 years of working experience in the field of dentistry. I attended J. Everett Light Career Center in 1974, where I received my Dental Assistant’s certificate. In 1980 I received my certification in Expanded Functions from I.U. School of Dentistry. I am currently working in the field and continue to look for ways to further my knowledge in every aspect of dentistry. Teaching has given me the ability to give back to the dental community here in Indianapolis, to help produce well-educated and trained dental assistants.
Katie Weir
Oral Surgery Assistant (OSA), Expanded Duties Dental Assistant (EDDA), Dental Anesthesia Assistant (DAA)
My name is Katie Weir. I have 13+ years experience in the dental industry. I feel blessed to have had multiple opportunities to learn from some of the best doctors in the “specialty” world of dentistry. I graduated from Dental Office Training by Lynn in 2007. Before graduating I had a job as a periodontal surgical assistant. In 2012 I earned my Expanded Duties Dental Assistant certificate from IU School of Dentistry. In 2015 I achieved my (DAANCE) credentials- Dental Anesthesia Assistant National Certification Examination. In 2016 I went to the Herman Ostrow School of Dentistry at the University of Southern California and earned a certificate for Parenteral Moderate Sedation and IV insertion. I have been a practicing EDDA and Ortho assistant. I am thrilled to be back full circle at DOT where I can help others new to dentistry explore the multiple choices they have in the dental field. There are no limits in dentistry!
