The first impression a potential employer receives is a resume. For a resume to be successful, it should be a reflection of your personality and skills. Most people (especially in the dental field) make the mistake of putting too much information/don’t include the right information on their resume.
Tip #1: Don’t overthink it!
Resume building does not have to be difficult. Imagine yourself as the employer receiving your own resume. Think about the information they would actually want to know and exclude the fluff. As an employer, reading through hundreds of resumes is exhausting and tedious so make yours short and sweet!
Tip #2: Condense
It is impressive when resume content can be condensed into something short and to the point. You don’t need lengthy sentences to prove that you are an eligible candidate for the job. Employers want to see what experience is relevant and applicable to what you are applying for. Long summaries could be your downfall, so learn how to state your qualifications in a simple manner.
Tip #3: Keep it Clean
Your resume sheet should be easy to navigate and clean. Fancy fonts and elaborate borders aren’t necessary and cause a distraction from your content. In fact, having a clear, concise, and condensed resume sets you apart from the others and shows employers you know how to be professional. Choose a simple and easy-to-read font that allows the employer to focus on the quality of your resume.
